“True Interaction’s ability to translate a chapter of history as difficult as segregation and racism into a work of art is unique. This design meets its intended purpose of educating and inspiring visitors for generations.”– Dr. James T Averhart, National President of MPMA

“Thanks to your unwavering commitment and dedication to support this project, you’ve brought us closer to realizing the vision that has been on the hearts and minds of countless American service men and women.”

“Despite being denied many basic rights, the Montford Point Marines committed to serve our country with selfless patriotism… Embodying the Marine Corps motto of Semper Fidelis, Always Faithful, these heroes paved the way for future generations of warriors, regardless of background, to serve in the finest military the world has ever known.”  Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States

“African-Americans… their bravery and perseverance should be remembered as an example of patriotism and loyal service despite the significant challenges they faced.  Senator Richard Burr, North Carolina

“For the last 60 years, these old training grounds at Montford Point, North Carolina, have reminded us of the courage, determination, and perseverance of the young men who once stood in formation here.” – General James Conway, 34th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps

“Every Marine – from private to general – will know the history of those men who crossed the threshold to fight not only the enemy they were soon to know overseas, but the enemy of racism and segregation in their own country.”  General James Amos, 35th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps

True Interaction has been the lead element on behalf of the MPMA in developing a fully designed and architected memorial to commemorate this important history. True Interaction provided services on a broad range of fronts, including campaign strategy, marketing assets, and website development.

This Memorial honors The Montford Point Marines, who were the first African Americans to serve in the United States Marine Corps. From 1942 to 1949, nearly 20,000 black men trained at Montford Point. These Marines participated in the Pacific Theater Campaigns of WWII, including Iwo Jima.
